Hello! I'm Maiya Buck.
I am a full-time artist and photographer currently based in West Hollywood, California.
My intention while creating is to enchant the viewer by designing a unique and compelling aesthetic and capturing it through a dream-like perspective. I like to express my worldview through a whimsical tone, using multimedia arts and fashion. Aiming to storytell much like that of a poet. If you're looking for a contemporary yet nostalgic voice, I'm your gal.
I specialize in creative and lifestyle techniques for portraiture, editorial, commercial, fashion, and music photography. I especially love working with creatives, entrepreneurs, musicians, artists, and business. And as an entrepreneurial minded woman of color myself, I adore working with women owned, P.O.C. owned, and small business clients.
My story:
I practically grew up with a camera around my neck. Both of my parents were passionate about photography when they were around my age, actually. My dad studied film in college and my mom did family and wedding photography for some of my early childhood. My first few years of life are heavily photo-documented because my parents had a camera with them at all times. Neither of them shoot anymore but they've both passed down their 35mm film cameras to me and now I get to use them for my film work, which is one of the reasons shooting film is so special to me.
When I was 7 years old I would "steal" my mom's professional camera and take a million photos of my* Beanie Baby collection. After getting the photos printed with no idea she'd be paying for those million photos, my mom helped me set up my first ever photoshoot using her backdrops and lighting. The shoot was styled by me and modeled by my baby sister (and all of her favorite toys, of course). After that I began shooting with practically anything I could get my hands on including a $10 megapixel cameras from walmart, my Nintendo DSi, my 4th gen iPod Touch, and eventually (finally) my first "real" camera- a Canon bridge camera. Surprisingly, my parents never taught me how to use a camera or frame a photo, I was too independent. So, I figured it out myself. Over 17 years later and it’s still my passion. And the biggest part of my life.

Me behind the scenes:
I thoroughly enjoy people and places. I live to explore! I dream of travel to any and everywhere and love to meet people and appreciate their cultures along the way. I grew up in Utah but was born on the East Coast and I have recently relocated to West Hollywood, California to pursue my photography career.
Along with photography, I make many other types of art. My mediums range anywhere from painting to poetry to rug and jewelry making. I just love to do art! Creativity, expression, and finding beauty are very prominent in my life.
I am kismet to astrology and I identify with the signs on my birth chart wholeheartedly. I credit my Sagittarius Sun and Leo Moon for my interest in many of my passions.
I also have a silly little poodle pup named Disco who is a beautiful blue merle. He's my soulmate!
I am self-represented. Contact me here.
